(First and foremost, the Wolverine movie did in fact screw up a lot of his true comic history I'll only be using bits and pieces from that movie. For instance, I will be maintaining the fact he and Victor/Sabretooth are brothers.)

I'm Logan, some call me Wolverine. I don't really remember much about myself. Don't know if I was ever married, ever had a family or anything like that. All I know for sure is I'm a mutant, a freak to humans. I'm a loner type, but Xavier's taken me in to his little whatever the hell it is and made me part of some dysfunctional little family. I'm part of a team now, they call themselves The X-Men.

Extra info taken from the Coyote Crossing series.
His name is Logan

He is a hunter, and he persues a very specific prey. He is not interested in law or procedure or process. He's interested in justice--his own judgement, not any court's.

He is a mutant, feared and hated for his abilitiesm from sense of smell to his near-miraculous powers of regerantion. He is a tool, modified with an unbreakable skeleton and six claws that can slice through almost anything on Earth. He is a fighter, with almost a century of behind him, He is a loner, quick to seperate himself from company and crowds.

And he is tenacious. He doesn't stop. He doesn't, ever, stop.

He is a loner perpetually caught between worlds. A mutant in a world that fears mutants, a warrior in a world that shrinks from violence, a man of honor in a world that has no use for such things.

But his greatest conflict is not with the world, but with himself, and the raging beast that lives within him.

He is a weapon, a proficient and nearly unstoppable killer, with unbreakable bones and six razor-sharp claws that can slice through titanium like butter.

And he cherishes life, the way only a warrior can. He knows its flaws and its trials, and cherishes it still.

He is a hunter who hunts predators. He cuts sickness from the pack, the illness that bleeds into society, which threatens to kill it by inches.

He is a mutant, and that makes the hunter hunted, persued out of fear. His senses are sharper than the wolf'sm the adamantium claws he wields can cut as cleanly as a laser, his body able to shrug-off and recover from the most grievous wounds imaginable.

And he struggles, fighting an animal rage that lives within him, that threatens to turn him from man to beast, and his better angels: to live with honor, and act with the same; the protect the innocent, and punish the wicked.

What if Logan never went to the Weapon X program, never got the adamantium, never met the X-Men. What if he never lost his memory. What if instead of working S.H.I.E.L.D he was an assassin for The Hand.

Now he's left them and has become a free lance assassin, using the ways of the samauri mostly. When on a job Logan carries a sword and a single gun, as well as the bone claws that protrude from his forearms.

He's a loner, not getting close to anyone or anything for fear of losing it. Constantly looking over his shoulder, watching out for his former employers. Because no one ever leaves The Hand, and lives to tell about it.

History: In the late 1880's a child by the name of James Howlett was born. As a child James was a frail and sick boy. His allergies didn't allow him to go out and play much. His father had requested that a twelve year old girl be brought to their estate. That girl was named Rose and she was to be a friend and play mate to James. She read to him and looked after him. Along with the grounds keeper's son, Dog, James and Rose were the only children on the hill where the estate was. They had become close friends and played together as much as possible but Dog slowly grew away from them. Dog's father, the grounds keeper was named Thomas Logan, he was an alcoholic and abuse his son.

Over the next few years Dog started to follow in his father footsteps, becoming cruel and heartless. James was given more responsibilities by his father and grandfather. After a big fight, Dog killed James's K-9 companion which resulted in the Logans getting kicked off the Howlett estate.

In a fit of rage and anger Thomas Logan and his son entered the estate armed. They then took Rose hostage and demanded that she take them to the masters' bedroom. There the elder Logan tried to persuade James's mother, Elizabeth, to leave with them. Before they could leave John entered the room and discovered them together. In a rage of hate and dislike Thomas shot John as James walked into the room. Seeing his father shot and killed shocked him so much that it triggered his latent mutant abilities. His claws extended and continued through Thomas.

After his mother shunned him for his unusual abilities he fled the house. Rose followed to see what she could do. She found James outside the house on the ground and cold. She brought him to the barn in order to try and warm him up. Not knowing what to do Rose brought James to his grandfather house. He ended up giving them cash and told them never to come back again.

Rose took James and went to British Columbia looking for a place that they could live in peace. Rose remembered her father talking of quarries in the Northern frontiers and she figured that would be a good place for them to start looking. Making it to a quarry, they met a man named Smitty who was the foreman. That is when Rose gave James the name Logan to hide his true identity.

By the second summer there Logan was providing for both Rose and himself. He had trained himself to be a fine hunter and he also worked hard at the quarry. Smitty even gave him a new job in demolitions. Shortly after that Smitty asked Rose to marry him. The proposal upset Logan but he finally realized that Smitty did indeed love Rose. Logan then helped Smitty get money for tickets away from the quarry.

Before Smitty and Rose could leave Dog showed up. At the request of Logans grandfather he was to kill Logan and Rose for what he believed they did. In the fight that followed Rose tried to break it up but was struck by Logans claws and died. After that, not being able to live among people for what he did he left the camp and went off into the wilderness to live alone.

Logan possesses memories of being a Samurai in Japan, a mercenary operative for the Central Intelligence Agency, and a "wild man" in the Canadian wilderness. Due to the extensive memory implants given to Logan through the Weapon X program, any and all of these memories are suspect. Logan has at least one memory of meeting Captain America in World War II which was verified as true. It is possible that Logan's healing factor grants him an extended life span and has granted him the physical condition of a man in his prime, despite his age.

Sometime after World War II, Logan was taken by a group of scientists led by Dr. Cornelius as part of the Weapon X program. Cornelius was hired to perfect and use a technique that would bond the indestructible element adamantium to human bone cells. Logan's skeleton was bonded to the adamantium, and he was indoctrinated into the Weapon X assassin program.

Height:6 ft. 3 in. ((Comic wise he's really 5'3 but Hugh is 6'3 so ta da!))
Weight: (without adamantium skeleton) 200 lbs., (with adamantium skeleton) 300 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black

Strength Level: While Wolverine may be of an advanced age, he possesses the normal human strength of a man in his prime with his height and build who engages in intensive regular exercise. While possessing the adamantium skeleton, Wolverine's strength was increased to the human maximum, making him capable of lifting (pressing) 800 lbs.

Known Superhuman Powers: Wolverine is a mutant with a number of enhancements to his physiology. Wolverine possesses heightened senses, making him capable of seeing things at a maximum distance greater than that of a normal human. His hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, and he is able to recognize people and objects by scent, even if that person or object is hidden. Logan can use these enhanced senses to track anyone, with an impressive degree of success.

He possesses retractable bone claws that are housed in his forearms, they are part of his skeleton system. At will Wolverine can release these claws through his skin between the knuckles on each hand. The skin between the knuckles tears and bleeds, but bleeding is quickly halted by his healing factor. The claws are naturally sharp and tougher than that of normal human bone structure. This allows Wolverine to be able to cut through most types of flesh and natural materials. (Note: While Wolverine possessed his adamantium skeleton, his claws were able to cut through almost any material without any fear of damage to the claws.)

Lastly, Wolverine possesses an accelerated healing factor based on his physiology. While most normal humans heal injuries over a long period of time, Wolverine's healing factor speeds up that natural process. Wolverine's natural healing has been advanced to the point where he can heal extensive injuries (such as broken limbs) in a matter of hours to days. This factor gives him a higher resistance to poisons and toxins, and he can recover from almost any injury. The more extensive the injury, the longer the healing time will be.

Wolverine is not immortal, however. If the injuries are extensive enough, especially if they result in the loss of vital organs, large amounts of blood, and/or loss of physical form (such as having flesh burned away by fire or acid), Logan can die.

Wolverine, again due to his healing factor, has an enhanced resistance to disease, as well as an extended life span. Despite Wolverine's chronological age, he is still as healthy and physically fit as a man in his prime.

Abilities: Due to his extensive training as a CIA operative, a Samurai, and as a member of the Weapon X program, Wolverine is a master of multiple forms of martial arts, weapons, and vehicles. He is also a trained expert in computers, explosives, and assassination techniques.

Info taken from Wikipedia
A mutant, Wolverine possesses animal-keen senses and reflexes, razor-sharp retractable claws, and a healing factor that allows him to recover almost instantaneously from virtually any wound. The supersoldier program Weapon X bonded the unbreakable metal alloy Adamantium to his skeleton, making it unbreakable. He is also a master of hand-to-hand combat.

in 19th century Alberta, Canada, identifies Wolverine as James Howlett, the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Howlett and her groundskeeper Thomas Logan, who is raised by his mother and her husband John. In contrast to the regenerating Wolverine, James is depicted as a sickly youth who requires round-the-clock care. His regenerative healing factor, heightened senses, and claws emerge when Thomas Logan kills John Howlett and he kills Thomas in revenge. His mother kills herself, having lost her husband and discovered her son is a mutant.

Orphaned, and blamed for his parents' deaths, James and his former caretaker Rose are exiled. They join a mining colony in British Columbia where James adopts the name "Logan" to hide his identity and acquires the nickname "Wolverine."

Wolverine accidentally kills Rose when she tries to protect Thomas Logan's son, Dog Logan, impaling her on his claws. Due to the grief of this accidental murder Wolverine becomes feral, living in the woods with wolves.

Early Years
Wolverine returns to civilization sometime later, working as a soldier in the Canadian military during World War I. After the war, Wolverine embarks on a series of adventures leading him around the world. Eventually, Wolverine sees action during World War II. During the course of the war, Wolverine meets Nick Fury, Captain America, and a young Black Widow fighting the Nazis in Madripoor and Europe. Afterwards, he joins the Canadian Army and participates in D-Day, as well as the liberation of the Netherlands. He may have also been a spy for the Allies and it was recently revealed that he spent time in the Sobibor concentration camp.

Wolverine has strong memories of loving the Native American woman, Silver Fox, and living with her in a cabin before they are recruited into Team X, but whether or not these memories are true would tantalize him for a long time before he finally learns the truth. On his birthday, Sabretooth, who lives in the same town that Wolverine lived in, apparently kills Silver Fox.

Years later, Logan resurfaces as a federal agent. During the 1960s, he is placed on a government Black Ops team with Sabretooth, Maverick, Kestrel, Mastodon, and Silver Fox. Team X is apparently disbanded after a botched mission concerning Omega Red.

Weapon X
Logan is revealed to be a man wandering, aware that something will soon occur to change his life as a drifter. At a bar, men appear and drug him, so they can take him to the Weapon X facility in Canada. There, a mysterious man commands the enigmatic Professor to reinforce Wolverine's skeleton with Adamantium. The Professor, and his assistants Dr. Cornelius and Ms. Hines, comply with the man's orders.

Brainwashed, like many of Weapon X's projects, into a killing machine Logan suddenly extends his Adamantium covered claws for the first time. He escapes the facility after killing nearly everyone there. He flees into the wild, and is later found by James and Heather Hudson, who enroll Logan into Department H.

After finding Marie aka Rogue in a bar in Laughlin City, she stowed away on his trailer. They were attacked by a mutant known as Sabretooth. Cyclops and Storm rescued them when Logan became incapacitated. They were taken to the X Mansion where he and Marie stayed, she joined the school. They originally thought that Magneto had sent Sabretooth after Logan, but they were wrong.

He was after Marie, who's powers of absorbing the life force and powers of mutants and humans were going to be used to Magneto's advantage. She nearly died and Logan saved her. Once they were back at the mansion he left, off to seek answers about his past that he'd forgotten.

Powers and abilities
Wolverine is a mutant with a number of both natural and artificial improvements to his physiology. His primary mutant power is an accelerated healing process called a "healing factor" that regenerates damaged or destroyed areas of his body far beyond the capabilities of an ordinary human and renders him immune to most toxins and diseases. Depictions of the speed and extent of injury to which Wolverine can heal vary, depending on the story and writer. Originally, this is portrayed as just accelerated healing, but writers increased this ability over years to the point that he can regenerate organs such as eyes and large portions of flesh.

It is that the removal of adamantium from Wolverine's skeleton could increase his healing factor to "incredible levels" and that the only way to kill him is to remove his head from the vicinity of his body. Further, he has been regenerated completely from being incinerated down to a skeleton.

addition to advanced healing, the regenerative qualities of his healing powers cause Wolverine to age much more slowly than an ordinary human. The Origin limited series, set in the 19th century, depicts Wolverine as a youth. However, Wolverine is depicted in modern stories, set well over 100 years later, with the appearance and vitality of a man in his prime.

Wolverine possesses superhumanly acute vision, hearing, and smell, allowing him to track and identify individuals by scent alone and see clearly in near total darkness. Wolverine possesses some degree of superhuman strength. Wolverine is physically strong enough to break steel chains. Wolverine's mutant healing factor heightens his physical stamina to superhuman levels. Wolverine has also demonstrated that his agility and reflexes are also enhanced to levels that are beyond the human body's natural limits, displayed by dodging Cyclops' optic energy beams at point blank range. Wolverine's mind is highly resistant to telepathic assault and probing due to high level psionic shields implanted in his mind by Professor Charles Xavier.

Wolverine's physical appearance displays animal-like mutations, including sharper-than-normal teeth with pronounced canines and three retractable claws housed within each forearm. The claws are made of bone, unlike the claws of normal mammals which are made of keratin. The bone claws are sharp and dense enough to slice through substances as durable as most metals, wood, and stone.

Because of his inclusion in the Weapon X program, Wolverine's entire skeleton, including his claws, was molecularly infused with adamantium, rendering it practically indestructible. The adamantium claws can cut any known solid material except adamantium itself. The adamantium also weights his blows, dramatically increasing the effectiveness of his punches and kicks.

During his time in Japan and other countries, Wolverine becomes a master of virtually all forms of martial arts and fighting, both armed and unarmed; he is especially skilled in the use of the katana. He can also use nearly all types of weapons, traditional or modern, long or close range. He is also an accomplished pilot and highly skilled in the field of espionage and covert operations.

Due in part to his feral nature as well as the life long psychological trauma he has endured, when angered Wolverine frequently exhibits a mental state widely known as the "berserker rage". While in this state, Wolverine becomes little more than a mindless animal. Although he hates this part of himself it has saved his life many times, as well as the lives of his friends and fellow X-Men. While in this state, Wolverine's mind is highly resistant to psionics.

Though seemingly brutish, Wolverine is actually highly intelligent. Due to his increased lifespan, he travels the world and amasses an intimate knowledge of foreign languages, customs and cultures. Wolverine speaks fluent English, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Cheyenne, Spanish, and Lakota; he also has some knowledge of French, Thai, Vietnamese and German.

Wolverine's vitals during a Danger Room training session, he says Logan's physical and mental state is the "equivalent of an Olympic-level gymnast performing a gold medal routine whilst simultaneously beating four chess computers in his head.

Personality wise, Wolverine is often gruff but despite popular belief, does not enjoy killing.
However this has not prevented him killing thousands of people. He is a loner and has a lot of inner battles but does possess a heart, often described by Marvel "as big as the wide outdoors", and has had many romantic relationships, finding a family in the X-Men and providing a father figure to characters such as Kitty Pryde and Jubilee.
